I thought we had one season, and one season only, here in California… until this rainy Winter (which still seems to be lingering this week btw). Us Californians actually got a real Winter this year and I absolutely loved the rain. A little inconvenient for driving, but soooo good for the plants and of course our endless drought! Also can’t complain because all that rain brought a strong Spring and that incredibly marvelous super bloom. I love love love seeing green grass and flowers everywhere in California. And with Spring here, we know that Summer heat we’re used to is just around the corner. So Kat and I picked out some of our favorite timeless looks from 16th Colony, one of our fave brands, that can be worn all year long in California, and are particularly effortless for the weekend. Just layer on a leather jacket, booties and maybe a hat for Fall/Winter, and swap those out for slides and sunnies for all the other months of the year.
16th Colony is a boutique brand, designed by my good friend and spirit animal Renee Rogers right here in California. Renee is a truly talented videographer who makes constant magic for many different brands, but also manages to work on a lot of her own personal projects like her video series interviewing a bevy of different boss babes from Cydney Morris and Dallas Wand of the beautiful brand Stone Cold Fox, to the super-specific, glowy-skinned goddess herself… Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential (OMG, I listen to her podcast every week and am her shameless fangirl)… and of course her line of beautiful, ever-so-effortless, yet mega-chic line of gorgeous clothing, 16th Colony. So let’s get into our picks.
This Lunar Wrap Dress was our absolute favorite. I love that it’s a wrap dress but not the kind that wraps across the boobs where you need a safety pin to hold it all together and feels like it could all fall apart with a sudden sneeze. You know what I’m talking about.
This Crescent Halter is adorable and so perfect with high waist pants or shorts. The material is a really nice quality, so you can totally dress this up with wide-leg statement pants – would be so cute for cocktails or date night. The Rosa Maxi is another gorgeous dress – the cut is so flattering and elegant. It looks simple, but it has these two slits in the front that are understated yet unexpected. And lastly, we love this Sophia Mini Dress for its versatility. You can wear this cute little dress to work, for a night out, to a party, for a weekend getaway… so many uses and so easy to wear.
Hope you liked these timeless looks from 16th Colony. I love homegrown brands that are beautiful, but easy and comfortable to wear, and can be worn all year long. A versatile wardrobe just makes life easier. Let us know some of your favorite brands.
