Marfa is a magical place. When it came time to plan my bachelorette trip, I thought… how cool would it be to spend a weekend with my closest girl friends in this small, artistic, eclectic town in Texas. So that’s exactly what we did. We all flew from Los Angeles to El Paso. From there, it was a 3 hour drive to Marfa.

A couple tips for the beginning of your trip, if you ever decide to head out there:

1. Pick up snacks and water before. We stopped at the Target on Montana Ave, a few miles from the airport.
2. EAT and go to the bathroom. You’re going to be on the road, driving through pretty much empty desert, for 3 hours, and there aren’t any rest stops once you’re far enough away from the airport. We picked up tacos from Good Coffee Mexican Kitchen, which was right by Target. We were looking for something quick, and this is more of a sit-down restaurant, but the food was so good… we scarfed it all down out of the takeout boxes before heading on the road.

About 45 minutes outside of Marfa, is the Prada installation – a definite must see. There’s something very exciting about being outside, on the open road, in the middle of nowhere.
All that fringe in the wind. I felt free. We were all in such awe… it’d been months of talking about this trip and this particular installation, so to finally see Prada Marfa in person was very special. We must have taken a MILLION photos. 5 Things You Need to Pack for Marfa:

• Boots – there are tiny rocks everywhere.
• Sunglasses, plus an extra pair – the cute oversized ones I’m wearing inexplicably fell apart in my hand the next day… queue tormented face emoji.
• Sunscreen – totally forgot this and didn’t think it was a big deal until I got a giant v-shaped sunburn on my chest the day we were leaving. Marfa sunshine is no joke.
• Jacket / Layers – our trip was in late March and we lucked out with fabulous, warm weather during the day, but it got pretty cold at night. So bring a jacket and some type of cover up that you can layer on.
• Polaroid Camera – Marfa is such a picturesque place. There’s something interesting everywhere you turn. It may feel a little inconvenient traveling with a bulky polaroid camera, but you won’t regret it. We only took a few polaroids and those were some of my favorite photos from the trip.
