Colin and I love spending time in Highland Park, especially on York Blvd. So when it came time for our engagement shoot (which seems like ages ago now- back in March!), we decided to take the photos at our typical Highland Park hangouts. This is basically one of our favorite weekend routines after we eat breakfast… look through the eclectic books at Pop-Hop, peruse the pretty desk candy at Shorthand, and indulge in the scrumptious donuts at Donut Friend. Colin proposed to me on a giant donut from Donut Friend (see the donut proposal here), so it was only fitting that we stop there during our engagement shoot.
Stacie and Callie from Vitae Weddings were our photographers and we loved working with them. They made us feel comfortable the entire time, which let Colin and I focus on each other and just having fun.

Hi Tracy! Love your engagement photos so much, they’re super laid back! I’m currently looking for engagement photo spaces and my fiance and I also love to spend our weekends in Highland Park. Did you have a hard time with businesses allowing you to take photographs in their stores or were they pretty understanding about it for the most part? Thank you in advance! 🙂

Michelle, I am so sorry for the late reply! We didn’t have any trouble but our photographers went into each business and asked for permission ahead of time. I would recommend doing that and asking prior to your shoot so you don’t catch anyone off guard. But for the most part, all of the store owners and staff were really sweet and seemed flattered we loved their stores so much that we wanted to have our engagement photos taken there.
