Frozen Dog Treats

I have this awful habit of buying a bunch of fruit and not eating all of it before it overripens. Pretty soon, I’m left with soft, wrinkly apples and brown bananas. Such a shame. I hate wasting food.. so I decided to whip up some frozen dog treats with some of the fruit that’s been sitting on my counter. They’re incredibly easy, made with only 3 ingredients which are all-natural, and perfect for Summer.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 3 small apples
  • 3 bananas
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • coconut oil just to grease the mold (optional depending on what kind of mold you’re using)
  • freezer friendly mold – you can use ice trays or even an egg carton

All you’re going to do is cut up the fruit- I left the skin on the apples and cut them into small chunks, tossing the core. Then I peeled the bananas and broke them apart a bit. Put all the apples, bananas and yogurt into a food processor and blend until smooth.

I brushed the mold with coconut oil to ensure the treats could be removed easily once frozen, but you could do without it if you had a silicon mold. Pour in the mixture and freeze overnight, or at least for several hours.
