1 year anniversary

Hi Guys! I can’t believe a year has flown by since I started Agency Addicts. This week was our 1 year anniversary! Thank you all so much for all your support, both here and on my social media channels. I’ve eaten enough donuts for all of us in celebration. Writing for this blog makes me truly happy.  I hope that this place has served as a little haven for you to find inspiration, maybe take a peek into Southern California, and of course relate to agency life.

This Summer has been full of change. I had been working at the same automotive marketing agency, as a Program Manager, for over two years… and a couple months ago, I made a big decision to leave that role and pursue something different. When that happened, the agency I worked for had made some changes in staff, and I ended up being offered a management opportunity that had opened up. So instead of being a Program Manager on a single account, the new role would require me to manage all of the Program Managers in the agency across various accounts. Totally unexpected… I was completely caught off guard by the offer.

First off, I had some insecurities about managing people who were just recently my own peers. And I was at a point in my life where I wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do, so that certainly didn’t help. Luckily, I am fortunate to have really caring friends and coworkers who believed in me and gave me the confidence to just go for it. It also helped that I had a supportive boss, who is very pragmatic and encouraging, especially when she saw I was uneasy about taking on a role that I had very little experience doing.

So I ended up taking the managerial role and I’ve really enjoyed the change ever since. Agency life can be extremely draining, and sometimes change is necessary. I do miss my clients (Dan, CJ & Larry <3), but I love this new opportunity. Everyday has been a learning process in my new position, and I think that’s one of the things I really like about it.

I’m looking forward to another year of agency life adventures with you guys. Stay tuned. XOXOXO.
